Size:
Reported to a massive 45cm in maximum length but
rarely sold in markets over 10cm. A standard
size shell (7-8cm) produces about 14g of edible
tissue.

oyster, western rock oyster. The New Zealand rock
oyster is the same species. Size:
To 10cm in length in the wild but some cultivated
individuals have exceeded 25cm. Usually
marketed at 40 - 60g whole weight.
